Michele De Lucchi – Participant
Founder of AMDL Circle
Michele De Lucchi is an iconic Italian architect, designer, and a prominent figure in the post-modern design movement. Graduating in architecture from the University of Florence in 1975, he became a core member of the radical design groups Cavart, Alchymia, and the legendary Memphis movement in the 1970s and 1980s, where he challenged traditional design norms with vibrant, geometric forms. He is universally recognized for designing the ubiquitous Tolomeo desk lamp for Artemide in 1987, which became one of the world’s best-selling design icons. De Lucchi has served as the Director of Design for Olivetti, created corporate images for major European institutions like Deutsche Bank and Poste Italiane, and oversaw the architectural restoration of landmark cultural venues including the Triennale di Milano, Milan’s Duomo Museum, and the Gallerie d’Italia. In 2018, he founded AMDL CIRCLE, a multidisciplinary studio focused on humanistic architecture that harmonizes technological innovation with social and environmental well-being, a philosophy he has also championed through his academic teaching and role as a professor at the Politecnico di Milano.
