Bjarne Mastenbroek
Founding Architect of SeARCH
Bjarne Mastenbroek is a Dutch architect and founder of SeARCH, an Amsterdam-based practice known for its deep integration of architecture with landscape and context. A graduate of TU Delft (1989), he has worked internationally for over 30 years, earning awards such as the Charlotte Köhler Prize (1995) and being named Dutch Architect of the Year (2009). His notable projects include the masterplan for Amsterdam’s IJDock, the Aga Khan Award-winning Dutch Embassy in Addis Ababa, and the acclaimed Villa Vals in Switzerland. Mastenbroek’s work—like the MIPIM Award-winning Isbjerget in Aarhus—often explores sustainability and innovative urbanism. He has held teaching positions at TU Delft, the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, and internationally, and regularly serves on juries and speaks at architectural forums worldwide.
