Igor Urdampilleta
Architect and Founder of ARQUITECTURA-G
Igor Urdampilleta is a Spanish architect and co-founder of Arquitectura-G, a Barcelona-based practice established in 2006 alongside Jonathan Arnabat, Jordi Ayala-Bril, and Aitor Fuentes. The firm emerged during the 2008 financial crisis, prompting the team to focus on small-scale projects like residential renovations, which shaped their minimalist and resourceful design ethos. Arquitectura-G’s work is characterized by clean lines, abundant natural light, and practical solutions, often utilizing simple materials to create inviting spaces. Their innovative approach earned them the 2015 Emerging Architect Prize from the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award for their project Casa Luz in Extremadura. Beyond architecture, Urdampilleta and his partners contribute to Apartamento Magazine and founded the furniture brand Indoors in 2012, reflecting their holistic design philosophy.
