
Shuichi Kobari

Shuichi Kobari is a Japanese architect and partner at Toyo Ito & Associates, where he serves as the General Director of the firm’s Barcelona office. A graduate of Waseda University in 1989, he holds both the Japanese Title of Superior Architect (1993) and the Spanish Title of Architect (2006, Barcelona School of Architecture). Before joining Toyo Ito & Associates in 2004, Kobari collaborated with notable firms such as Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura (1989–1994) and Patrick Genard & Associates (1994–2003). Kobari has contributed to several significant projects, including the Porta Fira Towers in Barcelona and the Museo Internacional del Barroco in Puebla, Mexico. His work is characterized by a commitment to innovative design and a deep understanding of both Japanese and European architectural contexts. In addition to his architectural practice, he has participated in international forums, such as the FIMMA–Maderalia fair in Valencia, discussing sustainable design and material innovation.
