
José Selgas
Architect and Co-Founder of SelgasCano
José Selgas is a Spanish architect and co-founder of SelgasCano, an architecture studio based in Madrid. Born in Madrid in 1965, Selgas graduated from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSA Madrid) in 1992. He worked with Francesco Venezia in Naples between 1994 and 1995 and was awarded the Rome Prize by the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts in Rome for the 1997–1998 term. In 1998, Selgas co-founded SelgasCano with Lucía Cano. The studio is renowned for its innovative use of color, unconventional materials like ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene), and designs that harmonize with natural surroundings. Notable projects include the 2015 Serpentine Pavilion in London, the Second Home offices in London, Lisbon, and Los Angeles, and the Plasencia Auditorium and Congress Centre in Spain.
