Chris Precht is an Austrian architect and founder of Studio Precht, a distinctive voice in contemporary architecture known for blending ecology, craftsmanship, and the poetics of natural materials. His work focuses on creating spaces that are sustainable, emotionally resonant, and deeply connected to the human experience. From small-scale modular structures to urban farming and biomimetic design, Precht explores how architecture can be both functional and soulfully expressive.
In his lecture, “Love Letter to the Small Scale,” Precht will share his reflections on the architectural power of working at a small scale, a scale often overlooked, yet deeply connected to nature, community, and individual identity. He will speak about building with care, intention, and a deep respect for context. In response to today’s global challenges, including the climate crisis, urban alienation, and the loss of local identity, Precht advocates for a more grounded and human-centered practice, one that celebrates the humble, the handmade, and the hyperlocal as essential pathways toward a more sustainable future.
