Nuno Melo Sousa is a Portuguese architect and educator, recognized for his minimalist and contextually sensitive architectural practice. Born in 1988, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) in 2011. Furthering his education, he studied at TU Delft in the Netherlands and participated in the Balkrishna Doshi International Workshop in Ahmedabad, India. Professionally, he has collaborated with ateliers such as [A] ainda arquitectura and Nuno Brandão Costa. In 2012, he established his own studio, Nuno Melo Sousa Architecture (NMS), based in Penafiel, Portugal.NMS is characterized by its methodical, collaborative approach to architecture, emphasizing simplicity and sustainability. The studio’s work often involves the reuse of existing elements and materials, engaging local artisans to create architecture that resonates with its context. In addition to his architectural practice, Nuno Melo Sousa has contributed to architectural education.
