Christele Harrouk – Keynote Respondent
Editor-in-Chief of ArchDaily
Christele Harrouk is a French-Lebanese architect, urban designer, and writer who currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of ArchDaily, the world’s most-visited architecture website. Her career is uniquely positioned at the intersection of design practice and architectural media, having transitioned from active architectural work to journalism in 2014. Based in Beirut, her perspective is deeply influenced by the complexities of her Lebanese upbringing, leading her to focus on themes of resilience, the “fragility of home,” and the political dimensions of the built environment. Since joining ArchDaily in 2019 and ascending to the role of Editor-in-Chief in August 2024, she has become a central voice in shaping global architectural discourse, championing narratives that highlight social equity, climate adaptation, and the essential role of women in the profession.
Regarding founding roles, Christele Harrouk is not the founder of an architectural studio or a commercial company. Instead, she has built her reputation as a strategic leader and curator within established global platforms. Her “founding” contributions are primarily intellectual and editorial, such as defining new directions for architectural media and spearheading initiatives like “An Architecture of Care,” which sets the editorial purpose for the industry. While she maintains a design studio in Beirut where she applies critical thinking to creative solutions, her primary professional identity remains that of a leading editor and urban strategist who bridges the gap between the technical world of architecture and the public realm through storytelling.
