Federica De Leidi
---------------------
Federica De Leidi is a highly accomplished Italian architect and urban designer who has made significant contributions to contemporary landscape-driven urbanism, particularly through her high-level work with Bureau Bas Smets. Her professional focus lies at the intersection of infrastructure and nature, where she specializes in transforming complex topographical sites into resilient public spaces. She gained international recognition for her role as a lead project architect on the Himara Waterfront project in Albania, an award-winning redesign that turned a defensive flood wall into a series of graceful, social terraces connecting the city to the Ionian Sea. This project, which was nominated for the prestigious EU Mies Award, highlights her ability to reconcile engineering necessities with poetic, functional design. In addition to her professional practice, De Leidi has been deeply involved in architectural education, serving as a teaching assistant at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio in Switzerland, where she has helped shape the design discourse for future practitioners. Her career is defined by a rigorous technical precision and a commitment to “augmented landscapes” that address modern environmental and social challenges.
