
Michael Obrist – Salt Guest

Michael Obrist is an architect and co-founder of feld72, the Vienna-based architecture and urban design studio established in 2002. Born in Bolzano, Italy, he studied at the Technical University of Vienna and the University of Portsmouth, developing a practice that moves between architecture, urbanism, housing, public space, and social engagement. Through feld72, Obrist has contributed to a wide range of projects and international exhibitions, with the studio recognized for its collaborative approach and its interest in the social and cultural dimensions of the built environment. His work often explores how architecture can generate new forms of collective life, public interaction, and urban transformation. Alongside his practice, Obrist has held several academic positions in Austria and abroad, teaching at institutions including the University of Art in Linz, TU Graz, TU Wien, the Salzburg Summer Academy, and the Architectural Association Visiting School. Since 2018, he has been Full Professor at the Technical University of Vienna, where he leads the Department of Housing and Architectural Design.
