
João Nunes – Salt Guest
Founder and CEO of PROAP studio
João Nunes is a Portuguese landscape architect and International Director of PROAP, where he leads the strategic and creative direction of the studio’s offices in Lisbon, Luanda, and Treviso. His work focuses on landscape as a complex and dynamic system, bringing together design, ecology, territory, infrastructure, and cultural memory. Nunes graduated in Landscape Architecture from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia at the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa and holds a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Through PROAP, he oversees research and design processes across a wide range of international projects, from public spaces and parks to territorial strategies and large-scale landscape transformations. Alongside his practice, Nunes is active in teaching and international lectures. He has taught or lectured at institutions including IUAV Università di Venezia, the University of Sassari, Harvard, Politecnico di Milano, and the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio.
