Florence Mercier – Participant
Founder & Principal Landscape Architect of Florence Mercier Paysagiste
Florence Mercier is a highly accomplished French landscape architect who founded her Paris-based practice in 1988 after graduating from the National School of Landscape Architecture in Versailles. Backed by a multidisciplinary team of chartered landscape architects, engineers, and urban planners, her firm handles a wide plurality of public and private commissions across France and internationally, spanning from intimate gardens and civic squares to expansive eco-districts, university campuses, and large-scale territorial infrastructures. Enriched by cross-cultural exchanges with Japan and China, Mercier’s design philosophy focuses deeply on the dynamic, evolving relationship between space and the user, deliberately balancing structural geometry with a sense of freedom for public appropriation. At the absolute core of her nearly four-decade practice is a commitment to environmental sustainability, seamlessly integrating critical climate-resilient strategies like biodiversity enhancement, sensitive topography adjustments, and complex hydrological water management into every scale of her living projects.
