Architect, Researcher, Professor and Co-founder of Ensamble Studio
Antón García-Abril is a Spanish architect, researcher, and Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Architecture and Planning since 2012. He founded Ensamble Studio in 2000 together with his partner Débora Mesa. Their work explores the intersection of art, science, technology, and construction, developing innovative approaches to landscape, housing, and prefabrication.
Ensamble Studio’s projects range from early works such as the Hemeroscopium House and The Truffle to more recent works including Ca’n Terra. Their work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Venice Architecture Biennale and Museum of Modern Art, and recognized with awards such as the RIBA Charles Jencks Award and the Marcus Prize. Alongside his practice, García-Abril leads research initiatives at MIT, including the POPlab (Prototypes of Prefabrication Research Laboratory).
