Carme Pigem
Architect and Co-founder of RCR Arquitectes
Carme Pigem is a celebrated Spanish architect and co-founder of the award-winning studio “RCR Arquitectes”, alongside Rafael Aranda and Ramon Vilalta. Born in Olot, Spain, in 1962, she is known for her sensitive, poetic architecture that deeply engages with nature, light, and local materials. Her work with RCR often blurs the boundaries between built structures and their environments, as seen in projects like the Tossols-Basil Athletics Track and the Sant Antoni–Joan Oliver Library. In 2017, Pigem and her partners were awarded the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize for their context-driven, collaborative approach to design.
