
David West – Panelist
Founding Director of Studio Egret West
David West is an urban designer and co-founder of Studio Egret West. He discovered his interest in Urban Design while studying Town Planning at the University of Manchester, where a lecture about Piazza del Campo in Siena inspired his passion for public space. After studying Urban Design at TU Delft in Holland and the University of Westminster in London, he joined Atkins, working on large-scale masterplans in China, Portugal, Abu Dhabi and Brazil. He later led the “BIG Architecture” team at Alsop, developing urban strategies that challenged conventional thinking about places. In 2004, he co-founded Studio Egret West with Christophe Egret, focusing on projects that combine architecture, urban design and landscape. He has contributed to research projects including “Facing Up to Rising Sea Levels” and was part of the CABE London 2012 Design Review Panel for the Olympic and Legacy Projects. After leading the London Underground Design Idiom, he joined the TfL Design Governance Board and became one of the Mayor of London’s Design Advocates, promoting resilient and high-quality places through design and urban thinking.
