Architect and Founder of Jean de Gastines Architectes
Jean de Gastines is a French architect and founder of Jean de Gastines Architectes, a Paris-based architecture studio. Born in Casablanca in 1957, he studied economics and history at the University of Paris-Sorbonne before earning his architecture degree from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 1984. Early in his career, de Gastines gained experience at Frank Gehry’s office in Santa Monica and at SCAU in Paris. In 2003, he co-founded Shigeru Ban Architects Europe as a minority partner, leading to notable collaborations with Shigeru Ban on projects such as the Centre Pompidou-Metz and La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt. His studio’s portfolio encompasses a diverse range of projects, including cultural institutions, wineries, spa resorts, and scenography for major exhibitions.
