Architect & Founder of JA Joubert Architecture
Marc Joubert (b. 1971, Pretoria) is a South African-born architect and founder of JA Joubert Architecture, based in Rotterdam since 2008. A graduate of TU Delft (1996), he began his career in South Africa before returning to the Netherlands, working at CEPEZED and later as senior studio manager at MVRDV, where he led major international projects like the Rotterdam Market Hall and urban plans in Paris, Istanbul, and Oslo. Through JA, Joubert works across scales—from interiors to masterplans—in countries such as France, Albania, and Germany, often in collaboration with MVRDV. His practice is known for its integrated approach to sustainability, social context, and urban innovation. He has also taught at institutions including TU Delft, the Berlage Institute, and Novi Sad University, and participated in international juries and research publications like REAP: Rotterdam Energy Approach and Planning.
