Stefan de Koning – Participant
Architect and Partner at OZ
Stefan de Koning is an architect and partner at OZ, where he focuses on context-driven, site-specific design shaped by collaboration and curiosity. He views architecture as a collective process in which each project emerges as a distinct response to its people, place, and programme, with the aim of creating work that resonates beyond its immediate boundaries. With a background in art, design, and architecture, he has developed an international career working across a wide range of scales and typologies. Prior to OZ, he was a partner at MVRDV, where he led award-winning projects spanning theatres, museums, educational buildings, housing, and offices. As director of the firm’s EMEA studio, he oversaw complex developments across regions while contributing to the studio’s broader design direction. Alongside practice, he has shared his work and research through lectures at institutions including TU Delft, University of California, Berkeley, and National University of Singapore. His interests span both large-scale urban strategies and more intimate architectural interventions, from masterplans to small pavilions.
