Elora Hardy’s career began in the high-fashion industry of New York City, where she spent five years as a senior textile print designer for Donna Karan and contributed to the ethical brand Edun. In 2010, she made a pivotal transition to sustainable architecture by returning to Bali to found IBUKU, a design firm dedicated to pioneering bamboo as a high-performance building material. As Creative Director, she has led a team of artisans and engineers to complete over 200 innovative structures worldwide, including the iconic Sharma Springs and The Arc at Green School, gaining international acclaim for her ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering. Her leadership in sustainable luxury was further solidified in 2021 when she was named an Honorary Royal Designer for Industry (RSA), reflecting her global impact on eco-conscious design and carbon-sequestering construction.
