Siegrun Appelt– Salt Guest
Artist
Siegrun Appelt is an Austrian photo and media artist based in Vienna, whose work explores the perception of light, time, movement, and the shifting relationship between sharpness and blur. Born in Bludenz in 1965, she has developed a practice that moves between photography, video, large-scale light installations, and public space interventions. Her work often investigates how light transforms architecture, landscape, and human perception, treating illumination not only as a visual tool but as an ecological and cultural question. In 2010, she initiated Slow Light, a project dedicated to a more conscious, energy-efficient, and aesthetically sustainable approach to light and darkness. Through projects in urban and architectural contexts, Appelt continues to examine how reduced, carefully calibrated light can reveal atmosphere, spatial qualities, and new ways of experiencing the built environment.
