
Amale Andraos – Panelist
Co-founder of WORKac, Professor and Dean Emeritus at Columbia GSAPP
Amale Andraos, AIA, HFRAIC is a Lebanese-born architect, educator, and co-founder of WORKac, the New York–based practice she established with Dan Wood in 2003. As Principal of the firm, her work explores the intersection of architecture, ecology, urbanism, and cultural identity, often addressing contemporary social and environmental challenges through imaginative design. Andraos is also Professor and Dean Emeritus at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where she became the first woman to serve as dean. During her tenure, she also served as Architecture Advisor to the President and Special Advisor for the Climate School. Beyond practice and academia, she contributes widely through writing, lectures, juries, and advisory roles. Her publications include Architecture and Representation: The Arab City, co-edited with Nora Akawi. She has also chaired the Aga Khan Award and serves on the Advisory Council for New Inc in New York.
