Catherine Mosbach – Keynote Respondent
Founder of Mosbach Paysagistes, Co Founder of Pages Paysages
Catherine Mosbach is a world-renowned French landscape architect recognized for her experimental and deeply conceptual approach to the natural environment, viewing landscapes as living entities in a constant state of transformation rather than static visual objects. After studying biological and physical sciences and graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure de Paysage in Versailles, she established her own Paris-based design firm, Mosbach Paysagistes, in 1987. Her career is defined by high-profile international projects that blend rigorous scientific research with artistic intervention, most notably the Louvre-Lens Museum Park in France and the Phase Shift Park in Taichung, Taiwan, the latter of which utilizes geological and climatic data to create a sensory urban environment. Beyond her design practice, Mosbach is a significant intellectual figure in the field, having co-founded the influential landscape magazine Pages Paysages and served as a visiting professor at prestigious institutions such as the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the University of Pennsylvania. Her contributions to architecture and the environment have earned her numerous accolades, including being named an Officer of the Legion of Honor and receiving the Rosa Barba International Landscape Prize.
