Charles Renfro – Panelist
Founder of Partner at Diller Scofidio + Renfro
Charles Renfro is a highly influential architect and a Partner at Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R), an interdisciplinary design studio based in New York. A graduate of Rice University and Columbia University, Renfro joined the firm in 1997 and was elevated to partner in 2004, playing a pivotal role in transitioning the studio from conceptual art installations to large-scale, world-renowned architecture. His career is marked by his leadership on defining urban projects such as the High Line, the redesign of Lincoln Center, and the Shed in New York, as well as the Broad Museum in Los Angeles. Renfro’s work often explores the “blurring” of boundaries between public and private space, integrating performance and visual arts into the built environment. Beyond his practice, he is a prominent academic and civic leader, currently serving as a visiting professor at the School of Visual Arts and as the President of the Board at Storefront for Art and Architecture, while frequently lecturing globally on the intersection of culture and structural innovation.
