Francesco Garofalo – Panelist
Founder of Openfabric
Francesco Garofalo is an Italian landscape architect and educator whose career focuses on the complex social dynamics of contemporary public urban spaces. After graduating with honors from the University of Genoa and gaining professional experience at leading Dutch firms like Mecanoo and KCAP, he established a design approach that treats landscape as a tool for social awareness and climate adaptation. His career is uniquely international, as he is currently a Visiting Professor at Politecnico di Milano and a Design Critic at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, having previously lectured at institutions like MIT and Cornell. He has been particularly active in Albania, leading urban implementation projects in Saranda and Berat, and developing regional agro-touristic visions for the southern Riviera.
