Built environment consultant
Vanessa Norwood is a built environment curator and consultant whose work focuses on using culture and exhibitions to advance a low-carbon, more equitable future for architecture and cities. She was Creative Director of the Building Centre from 2018 to 2023, where she developed a cultural strategy centred on the role of materials in sustainable design and construction. Prior to that, she served as Head of Exhibitions at the Architectural Association from 2001 to 2017, where she established an internationally recognised programme of exhibitions and urban installations. She now works as an independent consultant, collaborating with organisations and practices across the built environment to shape cultural projects, support values-driven communication, and amplify work focused on meaningful environmental and social change.
