Robin Winogrond – Keynote
Founder of Robin Winogrond Landscape Architects
Robin Winogrond is landscape architect and urban designer in Zurich, Switzerland. She practices internationally on projects, juries, lecturing, teaching and publishing. From 2019-2021 she taught at Harvard GSD. Her interdisciplinary background, reflected in an array of prize-winning projects, ranges from built urban space and installations to concepts for large and smallscale open space. She was Resident Artist at Stuttgart Academy of Art, holds a Master’s in Landscape Architecture and Bachelor’s in Urban Design. Her projects express the site specific, poetic potential of residual suburban and urban sites, transforming their inherent identity and contradictions into relative narratives and experiences. Winogrond’s work builds on her theoretical work on Geographical (Re)enchantment, atmosphere, imagination, the phenomenology of experience, environmental psychology and activating social space. She is cofounder of Studio Vulkan Landschaftsarchitektur, where she was partner from 2014-2020. Conceptually, spatially, and atmospherically, the projects offer site-specific and concrete built experiences of such intangible themes as identity of place, atmosphere, embodied experience, and social engagement. With directness, flexibility, and humour, her projects tease out the expressive potential of complex present-day landscapes, offering insight about our everyday landscape conditions and increasing sensibility to both our built and natural worlds. Her work reflects her interdisciplinary education. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Urban Design, a Masters of Landscape Architecture, and was a visiting resident at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, Germany.
