Robin Winogrond – Keynote
Founder of Robin Winogrond Landscape Architects
Robin Winogrond is an American-born landscape architect and urban designer based in Zurich, known for her atmospheric and phenomenological approach to transforming banal or residual urban sites into poetic experiences. After gaining interdisciplinary experience in urban design and landscape architecture, she established her career by exploring the concept of “Geographical (Re)enchantment,” focusing on how the inherent, often contradictory identity of a site can be activated through environmental psychology and sensory design. Her portfolio includes a diverse range of built urban spaces, installations, and large-scale master plans, with significant projects such as the Zurich Airport Park and the “Park of Encounters” at a former military base in Germany. Beyond her design practice, Winogrond is a prominent academic and lecturer, frequently serving as a Visiting Design Critic and Professor at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Regarding her founding roles, she is most notably the co-founder of Studio Vulkan Landschaftsarchitektur, which was formed in 2014 through the merger of her own firm, Robin Winogrond Landscape Architects, and Schweingruber Zulauf Landscape Architects. She served as a partner at Studio Vulkan until 2020, helping the firm achieve international recognition, including the LILA 2019 Office Award. In addition to her design studio, she co-founded the Landezine International Landscape Award (LILA), which celebrates excellence in contemporary landscape architecture. Since 2020, she has operated an independent international practice under her own name, focusing on specialized projects, juries, and research
