Co-founder of MOA Architecture
Julien Monfort is a contemporary French architect, urban planner, and educator who serves as the co-founder and principal of MOA Architecture, a versatile architectural practice and research laboratory based in Marseille and Paris. Since founding the firm in 2000 alongside partner Laure Pantel, Monfort has developed a diverse, multi-scalar portfolio that spans bespoke product design, high-end residential homes, commercial office complexes, and large-scale territorial masterplans, earning regional design accolades such as the Grand Prix Immobilier Professionnel Cotissimo. Parallel to his active design practice, he is highly involved in architectural theory and academia as an Associate Professor (Maître de conférences) at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Marseille (ENSA•Marseille), where his research workshops focus on local urban densification and metropolitan connectivity. Guided by a philosophy that views architecture as a flexible disposition capable of adapting to socioeconomic and environmental shifts, Monfort seamlessly blends academic research with physical construction, emphasizing local material sourcing, program mixing, and structural innovation.
